Email for Granny: Presto Printing

Presto Printing Mailbox: This great piece of hardware is the perfect “Email for Granny” solution. It is basically a printer with a built in modem. A picture is worth a thousand words:

* Allows you to send email to people who don’t use a computer
* Combination of the Presto Printing Mailbox and Presto Mail service
* Transforms emailed messages into beautiful, easy-to-read e-letters with photos and other attachments automatically printed
* Nothing new for your loved one to learn — messages and photos are automatically retrieved and printed on a schedule you choose, up to five times per day

How it works

1. Send email, photos and other documents to a Presto-provided email address
2. The Presto Mail service transforms emailed messages and photos into printable, full color e-letters
3. The Presto Printing Mailbox automatically retrieves messages via the phone line and prints them out

VoiceThread: Talk, Share, and Comment

1. VoiceThread: This cool site allows the user to upload a document or series of documents, then comment on the document via a variety of methods. A viewer can interact with a microphone, webcam, text, or even use your personal cell phone as a recording device. Possible uses for AIM/Careerlink could be to record a narrated explanation of a newly released Careerlink feature.

With VoiceThread, group conversations are collected and shared in one place from anywhere in the world. All with no software to install.

A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to navigate pages and leave comments in 5 ways – using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Share a VoiceThread with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too.
